Moody Home Office – ORC Week Six

moody-home-office-orc-week-six

Week six, we are in the home stretch! I’ve been hurrying to wind up my Moody Home Office for the Spring 2022 One Room Challenge™. Last week I brought in the gold, this week I’m adding another shade – Fired Brick by Sherwin Williams to be exact.

If you are here for the first time and are completely confused, The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual interior design blog and Instagram event. In each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge as Featured Designers, and transform a space. Any blogger or Instagrammer can also join as a ORC Guest participant by linking their room transformation each week. Every Tuesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over eight weekly posts.

Each week I will update you on the progress and keep you up to date here.

WEEK 1  / WEEK 2 / WEEK 3 / WEEK 4 / WEEK 5 / WEEK 6 (You are here) / WEEK 7 / WEEK 8

The Sponsors

Before we discuss this week’s progress I want to shout out to my One Room Challenge sponsors who will be gifting projects to help complete this project. I’ll be working with Comfort Works on a slipcover for the Friheten Ikea sofa, a mural from Photowall, cabinet hardware from Amerock, and art from Urban Garden Prints.

The Plan

As a reminder let’s have a look at what the goal is and what I originally had in mind.

Moody Home Office - ORC Week six

Painted Doors

Looking back at my design plan, I realize now that I didn’t have the idea to add in the Fired Brick by Sherwin Williams until the room started coming together. I could have gone with the same Hunt Club green as I used on the built-ins but the rug made me feel like I needed to bring in some rust tones for the doors. You know me I can’t resist adding more color…so I did.

So I set up my garage for a power session with my paint sprayer. I painted the french doors into the sunroom

This job was made so simple by Jasco Mask and Peel (affiliate) which is a liquid masking tape that peels off the glass once you are done. This product is my new best friend!

I painted the inside of the entry door.

Ikea Makeover

And then I got to work reviving this 20-year-old Ikea piece I found many years ago in the “As-Is” room.

It also got a coat of Fired Brick by Sherwin Williams but that was just the beginning.

I applied gold leaf to the back of the glass doors and to the front a set of custom-cut Gigi O’verlays from My Overlays.

With the addition of the gold leaf, I knew I also need to change out the legs for something a little sexier. I got these 6″ Hyever Metal Sofa Legs (affiliate)that raise the console slightly and gave it a totally new look.

I love it with my Golden Seven print from Urban Garden Prints above. You may not be able to see unless you look closely but the color around the cranes eye’s is the exact shade of the console.

Shelf Lining

With the addition of a few spots of new color, the built-ins were feeling a little heavy so I decided to add Scott Living Textured Abstract Peel and Stick Wallpaper to the back wall. I still need to figure out my wiring for the computer and speakers before I add my final pieces to the bottom section.

This brings me to the coming week’s task, moving back in all the items that live in the desk and credenza and getting organized! My husband’s organization technique has been throwing things in a drawer and forgetting about them. I’m going to attempt to remedy that but he has already told me he needs at least one drawer to throw things in…We’ll see.

Either way, this Moody Home Office only has two more weeks to come together for the One Room Challange Reveal on May 25th
