What’s Happening

It’s Friday High Five, No. 105 and 2024 has been a busy year so far and it probably won’t be slowing down anytime soon. March 1st is the projected opening of my new resale location at Refind Vintage and Antiques in Columbia, SC so for the past few months I have been steadily purchasing inventory for the new space.

This past week I went to New Orleans and shopped my way there and back. I bought vintage items in Atlanta, Montgomery, Mobile, and several other stops in and around New Orleans. In the end, there was not one thing more I could fit into the car. I was lucky my suitcase made it in at the last.

It also happened to be Mardi Gras season while I was home so shopping wasn’t the only agenda. I took in a few parades and ate more king cake than a person should in one week. But then again that’s what Fat Tuesday is all about, a little excess before the Lenten fasting.

After my return home, the action didn’t stop. One week ago today we added a new addition to the family. Meet “Frankie” our new miniature dachshund puppy. Born on Christmas day she is already the sweetest gift and is the cutest addition to our crazy zoo.

So you see things will not be slowing down anytime soon…

Now for some Friday High Five fun!

FRIDAY HIGH FIVE

  1. Favorite Follows: In honor of my trip to New Orleans, check out designer and artist Dabito who blogs at Old Brand New and recently published a book by the same name. Dabito splits his time between New Orleans and Los Angeles and has a flair for bold color and eclectic maximalism.
  2. What I Read: The Big Free: A Novel A young female doctor faces the violence, debauchery, and larger-than-life characters of a New Orleans surgery in this funny and gritty medical novel. This book takes place in the real-life Charity Hospital New Orleans which closed after Hurricane Katrina.
  3. Shopping: I can’t get over this cute Sea Lion Penelope Lamp from Make My Lemonade. Even better you can personalize your lamp by choosing its size and color combination or buy additional donuts to change it up.
  4. Artist Spotlight: I ran across Carolyne Heppenstall on Instagram. She is a contemporary stained glass artist selling pretties like this Stained Glass Sun Catcher at Lumie Glass.
  5. Favorite Find: In 1983 Architectural Design Magazine launched a competition for architects to design a doll house. The different architects’ versions are each unique and beautiful, talk about a Barbie dream house!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
