Holy cow week six of the One Room Challenge is here, only two weeks left before the big reveal. Last week I was in New Orleans doing some accessory shopping, which I will share next week, but my big accomplishment was picking up my new gifted light fixture from Sazerac Stitches. I went back and forth on a few fixtures but today I’m sharing the one I finally chose and why. Let’s just say sometimes you have to be prepared to pivot…
For those of you who are stopping by for the first time, The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual interior design blog and Instagram event. In each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge as Featured Designers, and transform a space and any blogger or Instagrammer can join as ORC Guest Participant by linking their own room transformation each week. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over eight weekly posts.
My previous posts on the topic are below if you need to get up to speed.
WEEK 1 / WEEK 2 / WEEK 3 / WEEK 4 / WEEK 5 / WEEK 6 (You are here) / WEEK 7 / WEEK 8 – REVEAL

Let’s take a look back at the sad old light that looked like something from a motel walkway and not a cool boutique motel more of a sad unloved rundown motel.
In my mind, this fixture sat back in the taller part of the stairway so I was envisioning something big, maybe tall but definitely dramatic. I also knew I wanted something in red to tie in with the red accent color on my floor tile.
Something like the Clancy Chandelier from Sazerac Stitches.
Unfortunately, while painting the door, I realized the light was right above the landing and at the lowest point of the ceiling. To make matters worse it sits right above the door swing leaving me only 17″ of clearance for the light.
Loving the lights from Sazerac Stitches I went back to my search and found the Daisy Loa Chandelier. I loved the daisy detail around the cup but it was only offered in yellow.
I noticed most of their other fixtures were offered in multiple colors so since Sazerac Stitches is a small family-owned business I figured I’d asked if this one could be made in red too and they agreed. They even adjusted the down rod to just the length I needed to clear the door.
There was some assembly required but this was essentially just threading the wire from the fixture through the down rod and screwing the pieces together. I loved the glossy red the moment I opened the box and could hardly wait to get it home and hang it.
Now I’m not going to give you too much eye candy today but I will share that the light is up and clears the door swing perfectly.
Thank you so much Sazerac Stitches for the perfect light for my new space.

It looks great! Good thing you thought of the door clearance ahead of time, that wouldn’t have been fun.

No, especially after I got my heat set on a certain fixture.
