Here we are at week three of the Spring 2021 One Room Challenge. This is the week I’ve been waiting for, the week that color finally goes on the wall. The first paint will be going on the wainscotting. Last week I left off with the dilemma of what color green was going to go up. Before I put up the samples I was pretty sure on the lighter green but seeing up on the wall changed my mind. My final decision was to go with Sherwin Willaims HGTV Home Talipot Palm the middle green below.
For those of you who are stopping by for the fisrt time, The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual interior design blog and Instagram event. In each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge as Featured Designers, and transform a space and any blogger or Instagrammer can join as ORC Guest Participant by linking their own room transformation each week. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over eight weekly posts.
My previous posts on the topic are below if you need to get up to speed.

Now for what went on this week…
This week the gifted Handy Paint Products came in very handy. You can see below my my old handy pail has been put to good use over the years so I was glad to have them gift me a new one. I also want to share that each of these special pails and even the paint tray include a magnet to hold your paint brush so it doesn’t fall in the paint. I thought this was brilliant new addition until I realized my old pail had one too, I just never paid attention to know to use it. I feel stupid now but will be using it religiously from now on.
With my new found knowledge I got my Handy Pail Pail , my Handy Roller Cup and their disposable liners for easy clean up and got to work. Look at me go!
Knowing I would be installing wallpaper later on helped me work a little faster since my messy paint lines would soon e covered up.
I even put a couple of coats on my switch plate covers so they would blend into the wainscoting.
My other task this week was to get the ceiling painted which surprisingly also involved a little carpentry project. I used a few old pallets to build me a scaffold to stretch across the stairs allowing me access to the high ceiling at the bottom of the stairs.
I figured this was a good use of time since I will be hanging wallpaper next week and will need to get up to those high corners, plus the ceiling did get painted nicely. (Still wet in this photo.)
Are you seeing the progress? I am and it makes be giddy every time I pass the hallway and see the changes.
Finally, Thank you to some of the brands I’ll be working with!
Sazerac Stiches, Tempaper and Handy Products all of whom have gifted me items to help complete this project.
