I will be hosting Thanksgiving at my house this year so I wanted to work out a beautiful tablescape. When you think of Thanksgiving you think fall oranges and browns, but I’m not much for fall colors. I decided rather than go the traditional route I’d match my Thanksgiving tablescape colors to my dining room, teal, aqua, maroons, and pink.
The Idea
The idea came to me when I ran across a variety of beautiful glass pumpkins at TJMaxx. I thought these silver, blue and iridescent glass pumpkins were beautiful. They range in price from $12.99 -$15.99 which is less than what I would pay for some real pumpkins. The best part is I can also use them year after year.
I added a few other accessories to tie the pumpkins into my decor since my glasses and dinnerware were already coordinated with my dining room colors.
I found some small iridescent maroon Pearlescent Pumpkins at Hobby Lobby on sale for $2.99. These are available in all different colors so if maroon doesn’t fit the bill for your dining room one of the other dolors may. I also collected a few plush velvet pumpkins in a dark teal.
The Arrangement
Once I had all my pumpkins collected I nestled them down the center of my table along the center on a simple linen table runner. The center pumpkin is raised on a cake stand I already had and I cut Boxwood and Loropetalum branches from the yard to fill in the gaps. If you are not familiar Loropetalum is a pretty common shrub that has beautiful maroon and purple leaves. If you don’t have access to these get creative and wander your yard for pretty foliage like magnolia leaves or you can add artificial foliage. For napkin rings, I use some leftover faux velvet in fuchsia. These I made using an iron and a glue gun…nothing fancy just add a sprig of Boxwood.
The Reveal
Here’s a little secret I thought I’d save for last. These glass pumpkins are all filled with tiny battery power LED lights so when the evening comes they can light up the table. No candles required!
With my thanksgiving tablescape in aqua and maroon complete including a pretty glow, we are ready to eat!
Well, not quite. Now I need to plan the menu to feed all these folks.

I rarely comment but I have been reading your blog since the Germany days. Since I live in Europe that was always fun to see as I have similar stores to work from. Love the lights in the pumpkins.

That makes you and OG Reader then, glad to hear your comments anytime. I miss my Germany days. I guess it would be shopping at TKMaxx for you right? I was so excited when I saw my first one there in Heidelberg. I’ve seen the glass pumpkins in other stores and on Amazon but the Maxx definitely has the best prices.
