One Room Challenge Laundry Room – Week Three

Holy cow guys, it is already week three of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda of Calling It Home and I have a ton to do. In case you aren’t up to speed… the One Room Challenge is an event where twenty design bloggers take on the challenge of transforming one space in just six weeks. Every Wednesday, the designers document their progress while sharing their sources and professional advice. In addition to following along, everyone with a blog, (that’s me!) is welcome to join the fun as a guest participant by linking their own room transformations to Calling It Home.

This go round I am tackling my laundry room you can see where I started below

Week One, Week Two

And here is where we are headed…

This week I tackled the sad pantry and started it’s transformation into a mudroom bench, something like this guy from by House of Smith but with my own spin. I was lucky enough to be in touch with my landlord recently and was given the okay to tear out the old shelving.

Here is the oh so pretty before, lest we forget.

I started by tearing out all the shelves and pulling in this Ikea storage piece that I am using as the base of my bench and some secret pet storage I will show you later.

You may remember it from Katie’s room in Germany.

Well, it just so happened to fit perfectly into the closet so I am building out around it to make more organized storage.

I repaired the wall from the old shelves and then finished up with some fun paint.

Can you guess where that fun Joan Mclemore Spoonflower wallpaper is going to go? You guessed it! But first, hooks and wall cubbies need to go up.

Here things are all trimmed out with the new paint and a few new accessories.

Did you notice the little peak of the changes in this direction? Well here is the before..

And my #ThriftScoreThursday Chandelier is making a pretty dramatic debut in the after.

Now enough chatting, I have to get back to work!

  1. LOVE LOVE LOVE! I love it when we can find pieces from elsewhere in the house and make them work in a new space with new purpose. Great progress so far!

  2. Yes, that chest is perfection! And that wallpaper is so gorgeous. This will be one swanky laundry room 🙂

  3. That wallpaper is the best – can’t wait to see it in all it’s glory! I am feeling like a total slacker after seeing all the changes you wrought this week! This is going to be one killer laundry room!

  4. I love it when things fit perfectly into other things–so satisfying! And I’m super excited about the wallpaper 🙂

  5. It’s going to be gorgeous! I love your wallpaper choice and isn’t it great when you have a piece like your IKEA one that fits so perfectly!?

  6. Awesome color choices! Love that you are going bold in your laundry room!

  7. Maggie….love the wallpaper and wall colors…in fact, I love all the colors that you are working into that laundry room. It’s going to be so colorful and chic. Can’t wait to see what you do this week.

    Have a great weekend.

  8. Isn’t that great when you can use something you already have in a new space? I’m going to do that, too. Your chandelier looks SO MUCH better than that other light! I really like the rug you picked! I need to work on our laundry area. Maybe then I’ll be inspired(?) to do laundry!!

  9. Yes to all of these! I love the idea you gave your laundry room, love the chest you take advantage from your bedroom, and the chandelier as well. I think it is really a big project 🙂 But, in my opinion this place will be more impressive if the front of the chest has the same tone with that room, for example: be painted with the navy color.
