One Room Challenge

master closet remodel ORC week 6

My ORC Master Remodel is rolling into week 6 and we are so close to the final reveal. Last week with my birthday so I did a little more relaxing than usual but I did get the lighting up in the master closet giving it a whole new look.

If you are here for the first time and are completely confused, The One Room Challengeâ„¢ is a biannual interior design blog and Instagram event showcasing designers and Influencers. Everyone with an online presence is invited and welcome to join in the fun by linking up each Wednesday for eight consecutive weeks. Each Wednesday, the internet and social media are flooded with interior design inspiration, original ideas, encouragement, and motivation.

Each week I will update you on the Master Closet Remodel’s progress and keep you up to date here.

WEEK 1  / WEEK 2 / WEEK 3 / WEEK 4 / WEEK 5 / WEEK 6  (you are here) / WEEK 7 / WEEK 8

I will be sharing the progress as well as all the tools and materials I use in case you want to try them for yourself. I want to give a special thanks to Tempaper and Wagner Spray Tech for gifting products to help in the completion of this project.

You can also check out what all other ORC Guest Participants are accomplishing each week over at The One Room Challenge! So let’s get this party started.

My master bedroom closet started with a very basic LED light which was an upgrade from the one-bulb boob light that was there when we moved in. I installed this light for purely functional reasons. The one bulb just didn’t put out enough light so a simple LED was an easy, inexpensive upgrade.

Lighting

Basic is not what I was looking for in this closet remodel, but I had a few parameters. I wanted something linear to spread the light from the front to the back of the closet. While I wanted to see something more interesting I also needed something that would sit close to my 8′ ceilings.

That’s when I ran across this White Globe Sputnik Chandelier. It has a lot of interest at a pretty reasonable price and also had the option of a 6″ down rod. The silver finish was not my original vision but it matched the finishes I already had on the dressers and laundry cart so I figured I’d give it a try.

I will be the first to admit, when I opened the box I wasn’t sure it was going to work. After putting it together I thought I might as well give it a try. Now that it’s hung I love the look and the light. I was afraid the bulbs that came with the light (yes it came with bulbs) were going to be too dim but the ended up being perfect. They are a lower wattage but because there are seven, they put off just the right mount of light.

With the new lighting in I have begun rehanging the clothes and making one last purge. Next week I’ll share with you just a few accessories I’m planning for this Master Closet Remodel. It is a closet after so not too much room for fun stuff but I may be able to squeeze in a few.

For now that’s a wrap of my Master Closet Remodel week six.
