What I Thrifted
Welcome to Thrift Score Thursday No. 144! From the image above you may think my thrift find this month was a paper-cut silhouette to add to my collection, but you would be wrong. It’s actually a DIY using vintage picture frames.
If you are a thrifter like me you know that every thrift store has piles and piles of old picture frames often with nice matts that are selling for just a few dollars apiece. I grabbed a few and got to work.
What inspired this project was a new addition to my crafting tools a Siser Romeo High-Definition Cutter (affiliate) which includes Leonardo Design Studio Software.
Using the Leonardo design software I was able to cut my very own, super-detailed, silhouette. Once it was cut I added a very thin layer of craft glue to the back and glued it to a cream color card stock. I picked a cream color similar to the matt from my thrifted frame to keep the vintage look.
After leaving the now glued paper cut to dry for a few hours under a heavy book all that was left was adding it into the $2 frame.
Here she is all framed up. Using the vintage frame gives the “new” silhouette an authentic vintage look perfect for this lazy girl who doesn’t have the patience for hand-cutting silhouettes.
Now it’s just a matter of finding it the perfect spot on my gallery wall.

Joining #ThriftScoreThursday
Before we move on to my favorite finds you shared this past month, Let me explain just what #ThriftScoreThursday is in case you missed out. I want you to participate! Hit up your local thrift stores, craigslist, yard sales, estate sales, side of the road, anything! Thrifty doesn’t necessarily mean from a thrift store. I want to see your good deals, wacky finds, and treasures and how you style them in your home. To do this tag your photos with #ThriftScoreThursday (any day of the week) when you post them on Instagram and I will share my favorites on the first Thursday of every month.
Don’t feel like you need to save those finds for Thursdays! Yes, features are shared here on my blog once a month and on Instagram on Thursdays, but I’ll be checking in on (and using!) the hashtag all week long. So, feel free to share it when you see/find it! And I love it when you tag your friends to play along, too!
Thrift Score Thursday Favorites
Courtney at Vintage_Charms has colorful kitsch collections galore so her latest Catherine Holm enamelware find will not be lonely when added to her amazing collection.
thriftiqueshowroom shared this steamer trunk with all the internal compartments still intact. The details are amazing but I can’t imagine traveling with something this heavy I would definitely need the bellman.
My fellow South Carolinian friend Jamala Wallace who blogs at Viva la Vintage for your Home shared this basket wall using thrifted baskets and scrap mudcloth. It has a beautiful texture that works perfectly with her afrobohemiam style. If you love thrift, Jamala also hosts a thrift hashtag of her own – #lifestyleofthethriftandfamous
I hope you enjoyed this Thrift Score Thursday. I hope this inspires you to share a few of your own thrift finds before next month’s post.
