Thrifted Holiday
If you’re looking for unique and budget-friendly holiday decor, thrift stores can be a great place to start. That’s why on this Thrift Score Thurday no. 142 we’ll explore vintage ornaments, garlands, candles, ceramics and more all bought secondhand. I love the idea of second-hand holiday decor because can add a cozy and nostalgic touch to your home, while also being eco-friendly and sustainable.
The photos above and below are of one of my own mostly secondhand Christmas 2015. We had just moved into a new home I wanted a new look for the tree I didn’t have money for big changes this Christmas. The deal was I would not buy any new ornaments to make this happen. I made a pact with myself that any changes I made would be done through DIY projects or thrift store finds. I found the beaded garland at the Goodwill and combined it with my collection of 1950s and 60’s West German pottery all bought at markets and thrift stores. Even the circle chair is a thrift find. With the addition of some fluffy DIY pom poms, I had a white Christmas without spending a lot of green.
Joining #ThriftScoreThursday
Before we move on to my favorite finds of this past month, Let me explain just what #ThriftScoreThursday is in case you missed out. I want you to participate! Hit up your local thrift stores, craigslist, yard sales, estate sales, side of the road, anything! Thrifty doesn’t necessarily mean from a thrift store. I want to see your good deals, wacky finds, and treasures and how you style them in your home. To do this tag your photos with #ThriftScoreThursday when you post them on Instagram and I will share my favorites the first Thursday of every month.
Don’t feel like you need to save those finds for Thursdays! Yes, features are shared here on my blog once a month and on Instagram on Thursdays, but I’ll be checking in on (and using!) the hashtag all week long. So, feel free to share it when you see/find it! And I love it when you tag your friends to play along, too!

Vintage place settings are a great way to add a personal touch to your holiday. This Thanksgiving tablescape by @Amysvintagedecoruim shows how you can get a one-of-a-kind table setting by combining vintage finds. If you want a little help from Amy you can buy these kinds of finds from the shop on Etsy
My friend Laura got creative with a blue and white ceramic pot she found at an estate sale. Love the Idea of “potting” the tree. If you want to see more of Laura’s vintage style you can find her on Instagram at @LGCaster
There is no one I know who does a combination of Christmas and vintage better than @megan_ballarini. You know I love a glode collection so I could be a little biased but look how cute those little bottle brush trees work with the colors of the globes.
What a warm Christmas glow Lindsay’s home has with a magnolia garland gracing her living room full of second-hand finds. Stop by at myeclecticabode to see just about every nook and cranny decorated with a beautiful holiday display.
midmodmarion thrifted these cute Santa mugs but she’s not keeping them for herself. A little bird told me that tonight December 7th at 8 pm EST, 5 pm PST She’ll start a live sale of some of her Christmas goodies in her feed and you could score these guys for yourself.
It’s not too late to find some amazing thrift score Thursday holiday decor so get out there and take a look.
