I turned a thrift store coffee table into a mid-century upholstered bench with a simple DIY almost seven years ago. Recently that upholstery job was due for a re-upholstery. But first, let’s take a trip down memory lane…
The bench started as a laminate top coffee table I scored at a thrift store for just $15. I transformed that coffee table into a mid-century style bench with a piece of foam and a couple of yards of bargain fabric.
Where it lived happily in my Coral and Green Master Bedroom for quite a few years.
Until last year when my bedroom got a refresh in navy. With the rest of the room refreshed, suddenly my coral bench was not looking quite so fresh. Even the cat thought it looked sad.
Once I decided on a new fabric he seemed much more content.
The re-upholstery was pretty easy the second go around, I didn’t need to do much prep work for the top since the old cushion could be reused. I won’t go into a step-by-step today since I shared the process in the original blog post.
The only real difference is removing the old cover which is made much easier by using an upholstery staple remover. A supervisory cat is also recommended.
This one does not allow any slacking! Good thing, because now I my re-upholstered DIY coffee table bench has a whole new look that perfectly matches my new bedding.
Don’t have time for a DIY, here are a few stunning benches you can buy ready-made.
