Week Two
Welcome to week two of the New Year New Room Challenge hosted by Stephanie at Casa Watkins Living. It’s basically the challenge is to refresh a room/space to kick off the New Year. I’ll be working on this space through the month of January, revealing my progress every Tuesday. The last Tuesday of the month will be the reveal. You can follow along with me and the other bloggers I’ll link at the end of this post or you can join in. If you missed last week’s post let me get you up to speed.
For the next four weeks, I will be working on the stairway up my guest room that for the last 4 years has been a sad dull blue. I delayed tackling this space because of the, almost 14-foot, vaulted ceiling. But as of today that has all changed.
The Progress
I constructed a scaffold out of an old pallet and some scrap wood that creates a platform for my step ladder. Combining these two risers I was just able to reach the highest corner of the stairwell.
I used Valspar Mosaic Pink to change the mood of this room from dull a dreary to bright and airy. Having this task complete is a huge goal met. But don’t think I’m stopping here.
My next plan is to add a tropical wall mural on the left wall that I will be painting myself. I started this task by creating a sketch of the proposed design and about a thousand paint samples.
I then took the design to the computer and put it together with all the colors. This is the final design I’m hoping to get on the wall this coming week.
