What’s Happening
Happy Black Friday my friend, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving full of family, friends, and fun. I hosted 19 people at my house so if you have been looking for my Instagram stories this week, I have been mostly absent. I’ve spent days in the kitchen prepping and cooking even though I do not profess to be a master chef. In the end, everything came out successfully with only the occasional burn edge. I enjoyed way too many sweets and beverages and was ready for bed by 7:30. It is nice having everyone for the day but I am relieved to have all the work behind me.
Today since I have my sisters, sister-in-law, and mom in town we are going to do some shopping. Not Black Friday shopping! I am not down to fight the crowds, but local shopping at some little shops is my speed. We are also planning to have a nice lunch before meeting up with the guys this evening. Today should be a much more relaxing day than yesterday.

Friday High Five
- Favorite Follows: Have you met @danidazey? She is a self-taught and multitalented creative with a successful career as an apparel graphic, textile, and fashion designer (she founded her clothing line Dazey LA). But she didn’t stop there, refusing to limit herself to one craft, she decided to also pursue her passion for interior decorating. You may recognize her from the Trixie Motel TV show Streaming on Discovery+. Here she renovates a 7-bedroom motel in Palm Springs California, purchased by drag icon Trixie Mattel.
- What I Watched: I think this week I probably watched the same thing as everyone else watched. The new season of The Crown on Netflix. I have enjoyed watching every season, but as a fan of historical fiction in writing and TV, it always requires me to have my computer ready to research. I m fascinated by each real-life character’s backstory. I’m such a nerd!
- Shopping: I am not a fight-the-crowds kind of Black Friday shopper but occasionally I do run across online deal. Last year we splurges on a Samsung Frame TV (affiliate link) during their Black Friday sale and I have not regretted it once. This year the sale is running again so if you have always wanted one now it is the time. I have the 55″ which is on sale for $999 ($500 off the regular price) but all sizes are on sale. Think of it as a Christmas gift to yourself!
- Artist Spotlight: I love a little whimsy ins art and this week’s artist is n exception. Inspired by her home on the Georgia coast Brook Lancaster’s paintings are colorful collections of lawn chairs, bathing suits, and most recently pool floats. Each series is something different but one thing they always have in common is a colorful palette, so I am always a fan. Check out her Instagram to see all her past series.
- Favorite Find: I ran across a reel by Cloverlanemckinny that has me itching to paint some floors. We have wood floors thru out the house, they are nice but not necessarily the color I would have chosen. I love this harlequin paint job and feel like it may be a fun solution until we eventually do a floor refinishing. Should I give it a try?
