One Room Challenge
ORC week two is here and this week in my Master Closet Remodel we are talking paint. Before anything else can happen in this space the needs paint and some dry time. So this week that is exactly what I did.
If you are here for the first time and are completely confused, The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual interior design blog and Instagram event showcasing designers and Influencers. Everyone with an online presence is invited and welcome to join in the fun by linking up each Wednesday for eight consecutive weeks. Each Wednesday, the internet and social media are flooded with interior design inspiration, original ideas, encouragement, and motivation.
Each week I will update you on the Master Closet Remodel’s progress and keep you up to date here.
WEEK 1 / WEEK 2 (you are here) / WEEK 3 / WEEK 4 / WEEK 5 / WEEK 6 / WEEK 7 / WEEK 8
I will be sharing the progress as well as all the tools and materials I use in case you want to try them for yourself. I want to give a special thanks to Tempaper and Wagner Spray Tech for gifting products to help in the completion of this project.

The Plan
Let’s look back at where we are headed with a look at the mood board.
The Clean Out
But first things first. I had to get the closet cleared out because Master Closet Remodel really means master organiztion. I cleared, purged, and hunted the house for places to put all the stuff. It took a while and a few trip to the donation box but got it cleared.
I realized it was also going to need a good clean. The baseboards were dusty, the floors were filthy and I even found random socks on the top shelves. How they got there, I have no idea.
Paint
With a fresh clean slate, I was ready for paint. I was gifted a Wagner Flexio 5000 from Wagner Spray Tech for this project and was ready to give it a try. This is my 3rd power sprayer by Wagner so I was not too intimidated. I have uses paint sprayers often of furniutre but it was my first time attempting to spray a whole room.
I used my favorite Valspar Cabinet and Furniture Paint in HGTV Home By Sherwin Williams – Aqua Reservoir. This hard drying paint is great for cabinets and furniture but was probablaby overkill for the walls, Bu I had this paint left over from my Kitchen ORC last fall. I’m feeling pretty proud of saving a few dollars because paint has gotten so expensive!
Using the larger paint sprayer from the Wagner Flexio 5000 I prayed the wall and built-ins. This sprayer makes the project fast and does not require any paint thinning which is nice. It does require a little more prep though. I spent a little more time masking the floors and doorway than normal but since I am plan on wallpapering the ceiling the masking on the ceiling I was able to leave out. I ended up applying two coats for a good coverage.
For the removble shelving I used the smaller sprayer and worked out in the garage. This sprayer produces a finer mist great for furniture. This dinner spray can require paint thining but this time it wasn’t needed.
The Results
Once all the paint had about 24 hours to dry I put the removable shelves back. The cabinet paint is an oil enriched enamel so It will takes a few days to fully cure. I won’t be adding anything else to the closet until it reaches it’s dull durability. I did however pull up all the masking. and bring back the dressers. Now it’s looking a little fresher and I’m one step closer to my vision for a master closet remodel.

Oh I love what you have planned.
That’s my fear, what to do with all the clothes while the closet is underway 🙂
