Happy Friday my friends! It has been a busy summer so I have not been doing a lot of It’s Friday, High Fives. I will try to do better. In honor of my return, we are going to have a disco or at least discuss the return of the disco ball.
What’s Happing With Me
Summer always seems so busy with the kids home from school, summer activities, and vacations. I guess that has been the same this summer but as the kids get older the activities get bigger. This year, my daughter who recently graduated from college, won a Congress Buentestagram Young Professionals Fellowship. This means a full year of work-study in Germany. This also means Momma has to move her out of her college apartment, 800 miles away in Louisiana, and get her ready to leave for Germany. We then had to drive 500 miles in the opposite direction to send her off in Washinton D.C. Lots of driving!
I also threw in a trip to Atlanta for the Haven Conference in between those two trips to meet up with some of my amazing blogger and influencer friends. I always learn so much at this conference which hopefully translates to me sharing more here with you. It is also nice to put a real face to some of the people I have come to know online. You really can’t compare to meeting someone face to face and knowing the full person not just the pretty shiny stuff that we see online.
Unfortunately, all this travel has taken me away from wog on my own projects to share but hopefully, I’ll be up to my usual antics as soon as I can get everyone off to school. I say that but I’m probably lying. School starts next week, that’s normally when things kind of get into a rhythm again, but we have a senior this year so I am sure that will throw in some added chaos I’m not quite ready for.
Hope your summer has not been so hectic and maybe you found a few moments to relax.
Now let’s get to my High Five…
Friday High Five
- Favorite Follows: Today my favorite follow is a fellow military wife who knows how to put a disco ball to good use, Stacey Blake, of Design Addict Mom! (you can also find her on Insta @designaddictmom.) Stacy shares my love of colorful design so I am always excited to see what she’ll do next but she is also the most amazing plant mom ever. Her massive fiddle leaf fig, named Glory even has its own Instagram account @Glorythefig. You will not regret stopping by to check her work out.
- What I Watched: No I have not been watching Saturday Night Fever, I havy been bingeing Jeff Lewis’ new show on Amazon Hollywood Houselift. If you loved Flipping Out you’ll be excited that Jeff is back but I admit after watching the new series I can see he has mellowed with age. (Not too mellow though!)
- Shopping: In my quest for disco balls I ran across Sofeist Design which makes all manner of decorative items blinged out with disco ball prisms. Anything from globes to ice cream cones they have blinged out and I love it!
- Artist Spotlight: I have been loving the work of Sari Shryack of Not Sorry Art for a while now, her tagline is “unapologetically colorful” so you know she’s my kind of girl. All her art is amazing but I’ve been particularly intrigued by her disco ball art. So much so that I decided to paint one of my own. (I’ll share at the end of this post.)
- Favorite Find: I have quite a few favorite finds this week because I have been looking at so many disco balls and disco ball crafts. Instead of sharing one, I decided to create a Disco DIY Pinterest board and share them all. You can actually buy stips of mirrored mosaics online to make all sorts of fun crafts so check them out.
And in case you missed it I have been doing some disco ball art myself. Check it out in the reel below.
Have a great weekend guys!
