Things are almost complete as we come to the end of Spring 2022 One Room Challenge™. Week Seven means the little details are coming together and it’s time to get my Moody Home Office organized. I don’t want to reveal too much before the BIG reveal next week so let me share with you a close-up of some of the things I’ve been working on. No pretty pictures this week, just getting things done.
If you are here for the first time and are completely confused, The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual interior design blog and Instagram event. In each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge as Featured Designers, and transform a space. Any blogger or Instagrammer can also join as a ORC Guest participant by linking their room transformation each week. Every Tuesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over eight weekly posts.
I will update you on the progress and keep you up to date each week.

The Sponsors
Before we discuss this week’s progress I want to shout out to my One Room Challenge sponsors who will be gifting projects to help complete this project. I’ll be working with Comfort Works on a slipcover for the Friheten Ikea sofa, a mural from Photowall, cabinet hardware from Amerock, and art from Urban Garden Prints.
The Plan
As a reminder, let’s look at what the goal is and what I originally had in mind.
Organizing
Down to the wire and the most difficult part of the makeover for me, getting organized. But more importantly, getting my husband organized. It will be a little more difficult because these are not my items and I was told he gets full right of refusal before anything is removed.
Up until now my husband’s organizational style is “throw it in the drawer and forget it” which is pretty much how the drawers and console were unloaded. Fortunately, I’ve been binging The Home Edit lately so I have a lot of feelings about how it all should go back in. I just need to get him to sit down and go through it all with me. Fortunately, he’s usually pretty okay with getting rid of things, just too lazy to take the time to do it.
While I am waiting to get his approvals I tackled the files first which are my area. I’m in charge of managing all of the legal documents and since some of the paperwork was from as far back as 2001, I figures it was time to let some stuff go.
I’ve also been sorting the books that will go back into the built-ins. Yes, I am sorting by color, it just feels less chaotic when they are shelved.
Sewing Projects
I also accomplished a few tasks that are a little more my normal flow this week, mostly on the sewing machine.
My velvet curtain trim finally arrived so I was able to get that sewn on to finish my curtains. I could not be happier with how they turned out and they are the perfect weight for room darkening when this room is used for guests.
I also sewed up some new pillows from this fun PKaufmann Lion Dance fabric (affiliate) that is a little more masculine than some of the fabrics that may have worked for this space.
With just one week left to get things finished up, I mostly have to get the organization of the built-ins finished. I am looking into the cord storage situation which is always a hassle around the computer. I also notice one or two of the drawer slides needs replacing. “Fat Badger” needs to get moved back in and I still need to have time to take pictures. It will be a busy weekend, but I can’t wait for the Spring 2022 One Room Challenge Moody Home Office reveal!
