It’s week two of the Spring 2022 One Room Challenge™. If you stopped by last week you know I’m transforming my husband’s home office from boring grey to a moody, masculine space with more color. You can see the overall plan above but we have a ways to go to get there.
If you are here for the first time and are completely confused, The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual interior design blog and Instagram event. In each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge as Featured Designers, and transform a space. Any blogger or Instagrammer can also join as a ORC Guest participant by linking their room transformation each week. Every Tuesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over eight weekly posts.
Each week I will update you on the progress and keep you up to date here.

The Sponsors
Before we discuss this week’s progress I want to give a big shout-out to my One Room Challenge sponsors who will be gifting projects to help complete this project. I’ll be working with Comfort Works on a slipcover for the Friheten Ikea sofa, a mural from Photowall, cabinet hardware from Amerock, and art from Urban Garden Prints.
The Progress
This week was mostly focused on paint but first I had to unload the room, which was more work than I anticipated. My husband has quite the collection of wires and paper scraps that I have no idea what to do with. For now they all went in a box to be sorted later.
As with all my painting projects I started at the top and worked down. I painted the ceiling, always the most dreaded paint job, and then worked my way around the trim and built-ins.
I wanted a deep moody, masculine color for the built-ins so I chose Hunt Club By Sherwin WIlliams mixed in Vaslpar Cabinet and Furniture Enamel for extra durability. This is the paint I use on all my cabinets and furniture. It is hard drying an dhols up well to wear and tear.
Once I have all the drawer fronts painted I will be installing Amerock stature in Champagne Bronze for the drawer pulls and cabinet knobs. Hopefuly the final pieces of the built in will get sprayed out in the garage this weekend so I can get these beauties on.
After paint the ceiling I also managed to get the new Harbor Breeze Chandler ceiling fan hung. This is not an ultra expensive fan but I really loved the modern styling and the simple gold accents. Bonus, it doesn’t make a loud racket when you turn it on like the old one.
So that’s my progress for week two, a few steps closer to a moody home office for this One Room Challenge. Ready to tackle some more next week!
