My Temapaper Family of Cranes Removable Wallpaper in the guest bathroom is finally ready for its big reveal. This little bathroom has had a mini-makeover using Tempaper before but I admit that go round I took the easy way out. You may remember when we moved into this house, almost 5 years ago now, the bathroom had traditional wallpaper.
Before
At the time, I started to take this wallpaper down but got lazy and ended up going right over the old traditional wallpaper with Tempaper. This method worked and it has held up for years but was not removable in the way it should have been. I decided now it was time to do it right.
This meant a little more work than just peeling and sticking new wallpaper. I needed a clean painted surface for the Tempaper to be truly removable. I started by removing the old Tempaper. This layer pealed easily but took the top layer of the traditional wallpaper beneath along with it.
Now that the top layer was removed, I was left with the paper backing. There were also a few spots of drywall that needed to be repaired.
This time I was going to get the traditional wallpaper down once and for all. I went to work with my wallpaper steamer removing all the remaining paper. Once the wall was clean I patched all the holes for a new clean finish and gave it all a fresh coat of paint.
This step was a lot more work than I wanted to do but the whole point of using Removable wallpaper is that it can be removed. The key to easy removal is applying it to a proper surface. Now the new removable wallpaper can come back down again with no damage to the wall.
After
Enough with the work, let’s talk about this new wallpaper. I have been working on bringing in some color in the guest bedroom so the guest bath needed some too. I decided on Temper Family of Cranes removable wallpaper because of its pretty coral color and because it tied in with my black vanity.
But you guys know I couldn’t just stop there.
Using my art as inspiration for a second color I also added a removable tile sticker to the floor.
These tile stickers by Snazzy Decals were the perfect option. They can be ordered in the exact size of your existing tile. I left my grout lines exposed which gives the stickers a surprisingly realistic look. I admit this pattern is a lot bolder than I would have gone on something that was permanent.
My last detail was to paint the inside of the door the same black as the vanity. This was a last-minute decision but I think it was worth it.
Now with my Temapaper Family of Cranes removable wallpaper in the guest bath, I have a fun colorful space that is totally reversible down the road.
