What’s up with this weather…
How is the weather in your neck of the woods? I’m in the middle of South Carolina and this week has had some crazy ups and downs. Last weekend my husband and I took an overnight trip to Greenville and ended up driving home in a blizzard. Okay, so what we call a blizzard in our part of SC is 5 inches of snow. Mock me if you like, but it was noted as the biggest winter storm in years. Following the snow last weekend it was 60 F yesterday. Now the weather says we could get snow today and a low of 18 F Saturday night. The weatherman must have misunderstood the “South” part of South Carolina this week, I do thank them for the 60 F day though.
I planned to do some spray painting on the guest room end tables this weekend. That was when it was 60 F but that’s out now that the temperatures are dropping, plan “B.” Find some indoor projects to work on that won’t cause hypothermia. Maybe I’ll start that art project I have been pondering or maybe I’ll just hunker down and enjoy a pajama day on the couch with the dog? Either way, I’ll be staying in and keeping warm. Is crazy weather dashing your plans?
Hope you are staying warm wherever you are.
Now let’s get to my High Five…
Friday High Five
- Favorite Follows: My girl Tina at Eclectic Twist is surely one to follow. She shares the most vibrant pattern filled designs full vintage and thrifted pieces and lots and lots of color. To say she is over the top is and understatement but I love it! You can check out her blog above or head over to Instagam for an instant visual thrill @eclectic_twist.
- What I Watched: This week I watched Death to 2021 a mockumentary produced by Netflix and a sequel to Death to 2020 (which I now need to watch.) This satirical retrospective mixes real news footage and scripted talking-head interviews which combined make for comical viewing. At the same time this kind of satire makes me a little concerned for our society today. Makes you think for sure…
- Shopping: Jonathan Adler never disapoints but I am really loving this Kiki Cabinet. This brushed brass cabinet faced with puffy capsules in glossy deep teal lacquer is a little rich for my blood. I may feel an inspired by DIY coming on.
- Artist Spotlight: Artist Carolyn Joe creates bright, colorful, original artwork (and prints) with a tag line is “color, light + messy joy,” my kind of girl. Her large-scale works celebrate color in all its playful hues, and her hope is that her paintings will evoke a sense of joy. The work below of a pool full of floats titled Float+On is one of my favorites and definately brings me joy.
- Favorite Find: I love refinishing furniture and I always feel like the hardware is the jewelry on the peice. Aparently I’ve been using costume jewelry on my restorations because today I found the real deal. Modern Matters Hardware has the most beutiful hardware I’ve ever seen, some as expensive as jewelry. The would be worth the cost though to finish off that perferct piece.
