PART 2: Living and Dining Room
On Tuesday I share Part One of my Christmas Home Tour as part of the “It’s A Colorful Life Home Tour” hosted by Jennifer from Dimples and Tangles. This year when decorating for Christmas I had several spaces to decorate. Some spaces were suited to a very traditional color scheme and others a non-traditional scheme so I decided to split my tour into two posts. Today I’m sharing Part Two of my Christmas home tour which includes my not-so-traditional living and dining room decor.
Living Room
Some of my trees from previous years had a peacock theme with lots of gold and moody aqua. This year I decided to go a little brighter. Candy-colored bottle brush trees and a simple DIY Christmas village made from scrap wood blocks are on the mantel. To tie in the stocking I added multi-colored ribbons in the same hues. I guess Daisy approved enough of the new color scheme to pose for a few photos.
The candy-colored theme continues onto the tree with peppermint twist balls and macaroon ornaments. I was able to keep my silver and gold ornaments and even a bit of my aqua but switched out the darker moody ornament for brighter pinks and purples. I added some focal points by tucking in extra-large snowflakes here and there around the tree.
Daisy wouldn’t let me forget the dachshund decor so I made a few more holiday houses for the entry hall.
Dining Room
If you were worried that my peacock decor had totally disappeared you are in luck. I’m not one to start completely new on my decor every year so the peacocks are getting a new life in the dining room. The new decor works well because the colors happens to be perfect for this space.
Using a tray, garland and some of my West German Pottery to create a centerpiece filled with peacock colored ornaments and feathers.
On the buffet I created a similar arrangement using my cake stand for height with garland sprays underneath. I’m glad I figured out a way to get a little more use out of all my peacock decor.
Hope you enjoyed both parts of my tour and take some time to stop by the links below to see what the other amazing bloggers have accomplished this year. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!!
