Part 1: Traditional Christmas Porch and Kitchen
It’s that time of the year, time for a Christmas home tour!
Today I am sharing my Christmas decor as part of the It’s A Colorful Life Home Tour hosted by Jennifer from Dimples and Tangles. If you are arriving via Less than Perfect Life of Bliss I am so glad you are here. If this is your first visit to my blog hope it will not be your last. This year when decorating for Christmas I had several spaces to decorate. Some spaces were suited to a very traditional color scheme and others a non-traditional scheme so I decided to split my tour into two posts. Today I’m sharing two spaces full of traditional red and green decor, my traditional front porch, and my kitchen that is already full of Christmasy green and red.
Porch Decor
Our house is a pretty traditional red brick Colonial Ranch. I don’t find the red brick and traditional style lends to going too far out of the box as far as porch decor goes so this year I decided to go with a traditional Christmas color scheme with plenty of red poinsettias. It also doesn’t hurt that the front door is painted the perfect shade of Christmas green that shows off the poinsettias just right.
On the porch, I use some artificial greenery and poinsettias packed it with lots of fresh-cut greenery from the yard. This gives you fuller look with the illusion that all the greenery is real and doesn’t break the bank.
I also mixed in some Christmas plaid pillows and throws with my year-round black and white decor to give the porch a cozy Christmas feel. We live in South Carolina so December is still warm enough for some porch sitting.
Kitchen Decor
My latest One Room Challenge Kitchen remodel inspired my holiday decor in the kitchen. The new look in the kitchen has lots of green with accents of red, the perfect backdrop for traditional Christmas decor.
Once again, a few traditional holiday elements and lots of free fresh-cut holly and cedar from the yard fill the room with Christmas cheer.
We even had a few candy cane striped Camelia blooming to add to the window sill.
My favorite addition, the new open shelving, allows for displaying some cute red Santa mugs and my Christmas count-down decal from Tempaper.
I loved adding these Christmas goodies to my shelves but I also loved giving my everyday decor pieces a Christmas makeover as well. Doesn’t “Fern” look pretty in her red Christmas scarf?
And my sister gave me a cute yellow dachshund for my birthday that needed to get dressed up too. Pretty snazzy I’d say!
Hope you enjoyed the first half of my Christmas Home Tour. I’ve enjoyed sharing my traditional Christmas decor with you today but I do hope you will stop by again on Thursday to see my not-so-traditional spaces. Until then pop by all the amazing Christmas tours that have been shared so far… Pender & Peony is up next.
