Last week I shared my Non-Traditional Thanksgiving tablescape in aqua and maroon to match my dining room. I love my aqua color scheme but that might not be for you so today I thought I’d share 15 more ideas on non-traditional Thanksgiving tablescapes that may inspire you and work with your decor. I’ll also share a few tips on how to come up with a creative color scheme of your own.
Keep it Colorful
For me, you can’t go wrong keeping it colorful. You can still use traditional symbols like pumpkins or fall leaves but use your own home as the inspiration for your table setting color scheme. Look at your dinnerware or a colorful tablecloth for a color scheme and go to town. Thanksgiving doesn’t have to mean all brown and orange.
Just Add Blue
If you are nervous about straying too far from the traditional just add blue. There is something about the contrast of blue alongside the warm colors of fall that just works. Whether is blue tableware, glasses, or napkins adding a few touches of blue makes a traditional Thanksgiving tablescape pop.
Get Moody
Here’s one tablescape you probably didn’t think of for Thanksgiving, go dark and moody. Add in black or other dark hues to your table setting. This is particularly interesting you are planning an evening dinner or an outdoor feast if your weather allows. Check out the image above with the string lights. Who knew Thanksgiving could be so romantic?
Mute it Out
Not feeling brave enough to completely stray from a traditional Thanksgiving tablescape? Try muting out the colors. Bright can be harsh but coppers and pretty faded peach can be subtle and sweet. Mix these with white china and warm wood tones and you have a perfect peaceful Thanksgiving tablescape.
Go Pastel
Who said Thanksgiving tablescapes can’t be pastel? I certainly didn’t and after seeing these beautiful place settings I am all for it. From pretty rainbow pumpkins to lavender sprig florals a Thanksgiving table is so welcoming in pastels.
No matter what you decide for your Thanksgiving tablescape, whether it is non-traditional or not, remember that it is all about welcoming others and sharing your thanks. When you are sharing time with your friends and loved ones the color scheme doesn’t matter but enjoying the company of each other does. So get creative and welcome everyone in.
