Fall Porch Decor That Easily Transitions from Halloween to Thanksgiving
This post comes just in time for this nice cool morning that totally feels like sweater weather and the first day of Fall. That means it’s time to switch out the summer porch into autumn. This last week I’ve been getting the porch all decorated for Halloween but I have to admit I don’t usually go all out with scary bats and skeletons. I like a little spooky Halloween decor but try to include more fall-colored pumpkins and plants that can be easily transitioned from Halloween to Thanksgiving. I’m also not big on storing a ton of decorations so I generally buy real pumpkins that I can put out in our nearby woods for the wildlife to eat or maybe even have grow a few pumpkins for next year when I’m done. Take a tour of the changes I made this year.
I cleared out my summer planters but kept my snake plants and added a few mini pumpkins at the base and some faux feather brushes I found at Micheals. Check out that cute striped spider which I got for free from Big Lots. I went to buy a few things to add to my pumpkin patch and found this little striped spider along with the black and white doormat. The spider had no friends and no price and since they couldn’t find what to charge me they let me have it for free. Thanks Big Lots, she is my favorite addition!
I brought out a pair of baskets and added a few multi-color Crotons which can be moved into the house when it gets colder. I bought a cart full of pumpkins from Walmart, in total, these cost me about $50. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll also notice the gourds from last year that I dried and polyurethane. I clustered and stacked these around my plants and scattered a few around the porch on the tables.
On the door, I have a spooky black wreath I bought a few years ago on clearance. It was all black when I purchased it but this year it was looking a little sad so I decided to add a few orange pumpkins and fall leaves. When it gets closer to Thanksgiving I will change this guy out for a wreath of fall leaves or pumpkins.
And of course my Halloween applique pillows I shared last week. These are plain on the backside so they can be flipped around once Halloween passes. I intentionally chose an orange that was more of a fall leaf orange than a bright pumpkin orange for this reason.
For a little added spooky, I placed a few glitter spiders accents to my pumpkin piles.
and glow-in-the-dark Tempaper seasonal wall decals to the widows, all of which can be removed after October 31st leaving just a fall pumpkin scene.
Thanks to the boys of the house who like to collect things they find out in the woods, I have a few scary skulls that always seem to be on the porch. Now they can finally add to the Halloween decor.
Now the porch is all ready for Fall with spooky Halloween decor that can easily be edited in November for a fall Thanksgiving porch I think I’ll sit out on the porch with a coffee and enjoy the scenery. Sorry to ruin the mood guys but I’m not a pumpkin spice girl so it will just be a regular coffee with a little cream. Happy Fall Ya’ll…

Love your Halloween porch. Good choice of plants to tie the decorations together.

Thanks Alice, I always love the color in Crotons for fall and these all make nice houseplants through the winter.
