The moment I have been waiting for for a couple of years now is finally here. Its been several weeks of hard work but it was worth it to finally have Will’s vintage inspires bedroom complete. If you remember my original post on the plan, you also remember the best and worst-case scenarios before photos. This room has been half done twice now and still not to my liking so I was hoping this time to finally make it to the finish line with this space. You would think a 16 year old boy would care less about the decor but turns out mine had lots of opinions about this space. (Not sure where he get’s that from?)
The biggest must-have and the inspiration for this makeover was a large map wall mural (gifted) from Academia Maps, There are many sizes and colors to choose from but Will AKA “The Client” chose the National Geographic Executive World Map so I used these colors as my palette. I admit when he said he wanted a wall mural map I was not envisioning this color scheme but in the end I think it was a great choice.
I did a lot of hunting for bedding in just the right shades but I’ll admit other than the green ticking quilt and rust-colored throw I was coming up short on the pillows so I ended up making them myself.
I actually used a throw blanket from TJMaxx to make a set of fringed euro shams and a remnant I found at a fabric outlet for the pillowcases. You can check out the tutorial on IGTV for the fringed shams if you want to know the details.
My other major update was one I shared last week, the mid-century dresser makeover that had these nightstands going from drab to fab. The plain wood dressers were in need of some love and the room was in need of some color.
Adding the green paint and gold geometric accents was just the boost they needed. Combined with the Nourisan Jaipur rug that retails online for $769 that I found for just $160 at a local carpet wholesaler I now had a great color combination.
The computer desk is staying the same for now but I did rework it to house the computer terminal and moved the camera display up so I could mount one of the monitors on the wall and at least clear some space off the desktop.
The desk chair was also updated to more comfortable brown leather chair because lord know he spends a lot of time in this chair. Maybe something really uncomfortable would have been a better choice so he’d get tired of playing video games every once in a while.
For Daisy, we added a bench from TJMaxx at the end of the bed since she needs a little help to jump up, she seems to like it just fine.
For the gallery walls I added vintage maps, some we had already collected and a few I ordered on Etsy from Bittenbender And Moll and Global Hygge.
Now the room has finally come together in a way that I am happy with and Will is happy with. I think this update should hold us for a couple of years until he graduates form high school. Until then wish me luck trying to get him to keep it looking anywhere close to what it looks like in these photos because I can garentte right this moment there is at least one drawer hanging open and a wet towel on the floor.

Thank you, I am pleased too. Will picked a map different from what I would have chosen but it worked out really well.

What a lucky young man! (And pup?) You did a super job and the map is the anchor.

Thank Pamela, I think the map was the perfect fit.
