That’s right guys, I’m back and hoping to make it a big splash with a whole new look and a long past due return to blogging. I hope you like the new digs. The old look was… well, old. So I’ve spent some time tweaking and updating before coming back online now I’m looking good for all my new content. I mean, you can’t show up for the party without a new dress, right? I’ve been meaning to get back to this for months but if your life has been anything like mine this past year then you know things sort of get in the way. Life just kept creeping forward and before I knew it more than a year had passed and I hadn’t blogged once. That’s not to say the time has been wasted just that it has been spent a little differently than planned.
I’ll be honest, it was nice taking a break for a while to focus on my family and my business. My daughter came home from college for a couple of months, my son was “zoom schooling,” my husband was teleworking, and I’ve always worked a pretty flexible schedule so we were all home together for quite a while. We had cocktail hour on the porch, bought a badminton set for the front yard, did puzzles, hung out by the pond, and raised baby ducks (more about that later.) It was actually a very nice time for us, other than the “we’re all gonna die scenario” that was blaring on the news.
As for myself my business never stopped, contractors were considered essential so we never had to close our doors. I work in a small office with only two other people who are out on appointments most of the day so we continued business as usual as long as the customers were okay having people work in their homes. Surprisingly most were glad to have us and as time passed with everyone sitting at home looking at their horrible kitchens and bathrooms they were begging us to come. I spent the year learning and growing and this year we are already booked out until September.
Another BIG accomplishment of the last year that benefited from taking some time off of blogging was getting our debts paid off. We had paid off the credit cards before and we tried to limit ourselves to only one car payment but I always had student loans so this year we decided enough was enough, we paid it ALL off. The student loans from my 5-year Architecture degree took almost 20 years to tackle. By taking some time off from big projects and channeling all those funds into our debt we have everything paid except our mortgage which we are tackling next, but maybe a little slower. I can’t tell you how good it felt to make that last payment.
That brings us to today…While I love what I do at my full-time job helping people plan their kitchen and bathroom designs they tend to be a little grey and I don’t get to get my hands dirty as often as I’d like. I miss blogging, I miss color, I miss the projects and actually producing something, and most of all I miss you guys. I felt like I was in a funk. You can ask my husband, anytime I’m in a funk I need a project to yank me out.
What needs to be done? Well, I went into every room of the house, out on the deck, in the yard, and made a list of all the projects I wanted or needed to accomplish. I looked at my list and thought, this is a lot of stuff still to do to this “Forever for Now” house. I miss sharing these projects. Hence, a comeback was born.
I’ll share a few of the projects I’ve accomplished while I was away but mostly I’ll share the long To-Do I hope to accomplish. I’m also hoping to get the chance to team up with some of my old blogging friends again on projects I haven’t even imagined yet.
I’m so glad to be back and glad you’re here to join me. If you want to be updated on all the new posts please join my email list to receive all my updates. (This is a new email list so please sign up even if you were signed up before.)

How lovely to hear from you. I always enjoy your colorful whimsical style. You’ve had a wonderful year! 2020 was a thoughtful year resulting in a reset for most of us. Our family experienced great loss and suffering, great family times and insightful thoughts about the future due to COVID but was a welcomed pause to our overbusy norm. I have learned to embrace the AND in COVID. It was horrible to say goodbye to my mom who contracted the virus and passed on to heaven AND many wonderful changes came about too. We are content and hopeful especially going into our Easter celebration. Looking forward to your posts. God bless.

Sorry for your loss Pamela but good to know it has brought you some peace and clarity.

Woohoo! Can’t wait to hear what you’re doing and say to myself “I wish I was as brave as Maggie and could just rip apart my kitchen.” I guess its not really bravery when you know you’ll have a beautiful room when its all over. I would be cooking over a campfire amongst the rubble of tile and countertops. Good luck on the fresh start!!

Now you’re talking silly, I know you have just as much skill and creativity as I do… must run in that family. By the way, ripping apart the kitchen might just be on that list.

Where’s the pet? Solves the problem of the hand confusion….

If I add in all the pets no one will see me.
