I know, I know, you probably think I have fallen off the face of the earth, but I actually I am very much alive but just barely. The last month has been beyond busy. It was almost more than I could handle so to preserve my sanity I decided blogging would have to be put on the back burner while everyday life erupted. May 2018 has been not only a busy month but a month full of highs and lows, first and lasts, and more than a few tears.
We kicked off the month with fun events like Senior Prom
(fortunately Katie’s date was willing to play along with yearly antics.)
Then Will represented his class in the May Day court.
and my home tour was release in the June/July issue of Flea Market Decor.
But by mid month things got serious with my husbands military retirement. The end of 27 years of service was very bittersweet for our whole family. We are glad to done with deployments and separations but as hard as it has been I think we’ll all miss the new places. It is also a little scary not knowing what life holds next. I guess that is always the case only I just didn’t see it that way.
Right behind that change came another big change, high school graduation. My daughter headed off to Louisiana to work for the summer and then attend LSU in the fall.
I’ll admit to quite a few tears leading up to this day but I was surprisingly calm when she drove out the driveway. I’m so excited to see where she’s headed in life but I guess I wouldn’t have minded if she was heading it a little closer to home. Time for us all to grow up a little I guess.
Finally, since apparently knowing you’re not going to moving every few years anymore removes all self-control we added a new baby to the family. Meet Daisy our new miniature Dachshund. There is nothing cuter than those fat feet on those little short legs. I try to remember that when she is having a potty training accident on the floor.
So you see what May 2018 has done to me. I have gone completely mad!

Very busy indeed!! Good job (as usual!) Maggie! I loved the story and the pictures of all of you! New fur baby is precious!

That dress you’re wearing at graduation is so gorgeous! You seem to handle it all so gracefully! Congrats on so many big events!

If by graceful you mean on and off a hot mess then yes, thank you. The dress is from eshatki.com where you can have clothing custom made to you exact size. I’m very long waisted so finding the perfect fit is hard, This company is the perfect solution and very reasonable for a custom fit.

Exciting and scary! Katie looks like me but her personality is so much like Chuck its crazy. It is funny to see so much of us in the kids.

Wow you have had an amazing month. Our son-in-law retired 4 years ago after 23 years of Naval service so I understand the trepidation of entering the private sector as I followed our daughter’s journey. Also one of my closest friends was wife to a career Army chaplain until 6 years ago and I watched her grow accustomed to all the new stuff. It’s certainly different and sometimes confusing but let me tell you God has His ways and it is all good in the end. Congrats on the magazine piece! So wonderful and deserved. I will look for it. Also congrats on your daughter’s graduation. Most of all, thank you for serving alongside your husband for so many years. I really appreciate the sacrifices you both made.

Thank you Pamela, as hard as some parts have been there are things we have been able to experience that I would never trade. Given the option I would do it all over again.

Oh I forgot to tell you our daughter and family also got a new puppy right after retirement! Ha ha. Daisy is adorable.
