You know the saying things get worse before they get better, well here you go! Week two of my Bathroom Primp and Pamper, hosted by Jewel at Jeweled Interiors, and things are getting worse. All the ugly is getting removed and I am making a great big mess In the hopes of creating something like this.
If you came over from Heather’s at Southern State of Mind, I’m sorry to drag you into this mess but I promise it will all work out in the end.
First task for the week, remove the golden shower door!
Getting the door and side rails off was easy
But the bottom rail was secured with about a gallon of silicone which required lots of cutting, prying and scraping.
In the end it finally came loose but I did have to use a razor blade to scrape off all the excess. I think some scrubbing with a magic eraser may be required as well.
Once I get everything cleaned up I have a guy that is going to come in and repair the acrylic where the holes were drilled to secure the side rails.
With that done my next job was removing the wallpaper, always a favorite!
It came off fairly easily with my steamer so I can’t complain too much. But the glue scrubbing… argh!
The last project for this week was one I didn’t realize would need to be done until now.
While measuring for the mirrors I realized the lights and faucets don’t line up which leads to the question what do you line the mirror up with?
So I decided to take the extra step to move the light over to line them up with the faucets so that everything will line up. I got lucky when I opened the wall because the junction boxes were already on an adjustable bars between the studs so it only required widening the hole and sliding them over.
And then patching them back up. Voila!
Now hopefully next week we’ll be ready to start making things better instead of worse…fingers crossed.
Maybe if you pop over to visit A Designer At Home will have something pretty for you to see today… If not we have a whole list of bathrooms getting a makeover below but as I warned you things get worse before they get better so they may all be in the same boat I am.

IMPRESIVE! I love the you just cut into your wall and messed with your junction box. You go girl!

Just a little electricity right? Haha the hardest part was the fact that this is an interior room so it’s pitch dark with the lights out.

It’s been a long time coming, glad to finally be tackling it.

Girl you are so good at this nitty gritty stuff. Prying that bottom rail off looks like my kinda nightmare. When we had to pry 9ft cork boards off the walls here in the studio, I had an anneurism (not really) trying to then chisel all the caulking and epoxy off the walls to paint. #mynightmare. It looks like you’re ready to hit the ground running with this fresh space!

Fortunately I love the last step of styling and finishing enough to make the nitty gritty worth it.

Love the elements that you’ve chosen for the new bath, especially the light fixtures. I have been searching for quite some time for a small ceiling light like your bronze and brass fixture. Could you please tell brand name and possibly where I can purchase online? Thanks
