All righty guys, week two of the One Room Challenge in effect and things are gonna get worse before they get better.
For those of you who are new to this the One Room Challenge is a twice yearly event hosted by Linda of Calling It Home. During this event twenty design bloggers take on the challenge to transform one space in just six weeks. Every Wednesday, the designers document their progress while sharing their sources and professional advice. In addition to following along, everyone with a blog, (that’s me!) is welcome to join the fun as a guest participant by linking their own room transformations to Calling It Home.
I’m tacking my living room this go round. If you missed my previous post ou can keep track here:
My goal is something like this…
But right now what I have is this…
So this week was all about wallpaper removal, can you say FUN! Steaming and pealing.
and more steaming and more pealing
and when all the paper was off I steamed again to break down the glue Until I finally had clean walls ready to paint.
Guess that means it’s time for paint but I had a dilemma. Our new house came with plantation shutter on most of the windows which I love but I don’t want to paint. For this room I want do the trim in Sherwin Williams Semi Gloss Tricorn Black but where to stop? Should the frames be black and the shutters white? Leave the window trim white? After much deliberation and Pinterest research I decided on something a little in between I’ll show you later but for now the shutters, window trim and door frames will stay white.
The rest of the trim, however, is all glossy black. Love how it is making the light fixture pop.
And to compliment the black, a pale gray HGTV Homer by Sherwin Williams Glacial Stream
I think I’m seeing progress my friends!
Don’t forget stop by next week to see what else I’ve accomplished.
Want to see more of the progress going on this week? Pop over to Calling it Home and check out the guest designers along with the hundreds of guest participant who are tackling the challenge.

You are certainly right about that black trim making the light fixture pop. I have toyed with this idea but don’t seem to have a space it will work — yet. Looking forward to your reveal to see what you have done.

Ellen I’m always in a pickle about painting trim because if I do I never know where to stop but with this room I just decided to go for it. So glad I did!
