One Room Challenge Week One -Living Room

It’s that time again… One Room Challenge time and I’m ready to roll, or at least I think I am.

For those of you who are new to this the One Room Challenge is a twice yearly event hosted by Linda of Calling It Home. During this event twenty design bloggers take on the challenge to transform one space in just six weeks. Every Wednesday, the designers document their progress while sharing their sources and professional advice. In addition to following along, everyone with a blog, (that’s me!) is welcome to join the fun as a guest participant by linking their own room transformations to Calling It Home.

This go round I’m taking on my living room, one of the only rooms in the new house that has had very little love. The living room started out looking like this when we moved in.

This room was actually intended to be the dining room but you may remember this room from my last One Room Challenge it worked better for us as the living room.

So I moved in my living room furniture, changed the light fixture and there it has remained for the last six months.

But now it’s finally time to pull it together, so how about a little inspiration.

I’m in love with dark trim right now so this bedroom by Alexis Bednyak is really speaking to me.

But you guys know I’m a color person so I’m planning to pair it with this Tucan Newspaper from Tempaper

and a colorful floating credenza I plan to build out of wall cabinets. To save money I am planning to reuse most of the existing furniture and create something that looks a little like this…

Of course a great find can always shift the plan a little but at least I have a starting point.

Here is my To Do list so far:

• Remove wallpaper (fun one)
• Paint Trim, Paint walls
• Hang new wallpaper
• Build credenza
• Hang TV, run wires in wall
• Build or find coffee table.
• Find Rugs and make pillows
• Hang Art
• Add Accessories

Guess I better get off this computer and get to work, I only have six weeks after all.
