Today I thought I’d share something a little different, well not completely different… Today I wanted to share a little with you about my “day job.” You may have notice over the last year the blog has changed a bit, mostly just slowed down. Well that’s because I now working full time outside of the house. In case you don’t remember just over a year ago I went to work for Lowe’s as a Project Specialist for Interiors. I help customers plan and manage their kitchen and bath remodels from start to finish and work with a Lowe’s provided independent general contractor, in my case Home Solutions of Sumter, to complete the jobs. So while I don’t have as much time to work on my own home I spend most of my time working on other people’s homes. Today I thought I’d show you a few of those projects I am particularly proud of.
This first project is actually for a customer who had already done a bathroom remodel with us last year and decided to come back and tackle the kitchen.
The old kitchen was not terrible just builder grade (but I still kick myself for not getting a before shot.) It had standard oak cabinets and run of the mill white appliances, functional but nothing fancy. Today with new full height cabinets, black stainless appliances, and carrara marble back splash it’s looking pretty fancy. But remember, everything in this project was purchased from Lowe’s including the installation.
This next project is a master bath that I think was one of my most impressive bathroom before and afters. It started off dated with a small cramped shower but the space was there and the customer was excited about making big changes.
That we did!
This final makeover that went from brown to bright. Every inch of this space was oppressive wood paneling when we arrived but thanks to some fresh selections, taller cabinets, and some hard work from my contractor we were able to make the space feel much bigger, and definitely brighter.
It’s hard to believe it’s been a whole year since I decided to make this big change and it has been quite an adjustment. I was used to doing my own thing and while I was working with clients on occasion I was defiantly not focused on kitchen and bath remodel everyday. Well, one year later I have to say I have learned so much, met some amazing people, and have gotten to complete some pretty fabulous projects. I am also lucky to have an awesome contractor with a great team who help me bring these visions to life.

I’ts been fun actually getting to see projects completed but it has been quite an adjustment for me logistically. But I have to say I’ve worked with some really great customers. These people were so fun to work with. I’m always so excited when someone comes in and doesn’t want beige.

I think it’s great that Lowe’s offers this type of service. Your clients are especially fortunate to have you working with them because you have the experience of completing projects in your own home. I have missed the frequency of blog posts but I assumed life got in the way. Wishing you continued success with your job.

Thanks Maureen, I miss being able to share here more but priorities change and I’m enjoying the new experience.

May be stealing that shower/bath connection combo for our bathroom redo…whenever it happens! Question: What has happened to Thrift Score Thursday? I see that nothing has been posted since June?

Steal away! As for Thrift Score Thursday we’ve moved it to Instagram only. I’ll have to try to post some of my own finds now and then so you guys can see what I’ve been hunting.

Maybe I’ll log in to my old Instagram acct and check it out then.
