It’s been a long time coming but my screen porch is finally done and just in time for the amazing fall weather that arrived this weekend. I started with not much more than a set of dark resin wicker chairs I a didn’t love and a blank slate. I slowly filled in with vintage finds and DIY’s to turn my boring porch into a bohemian dream. This was the porch when we moved in, a great space with lots of potential.
My original plan involved the existing wicker with a few bamboo pieces mixed and lots of colorful textiles. As with most of my designs, things changed bases on the bargains I was able to find and the items I was able to DIY.
The biggest shift came with the addition of a vintage rattan sofa I found at a consignment store for a song. I painted it a pretty blue to contrast with the existing black cushions.
This became the perfect place for my DIY rug sample pillows.
and of course required a change in plans for the new outdoor rug.
which in turn changed the color I planned for my dropcloth curtain DIY.
With the big things decided I brought in lots of plants, bamboo accents…
and of course a few more textiles!
In the end being flexible meant I spent less money and created a space even better than what I originally planned.
A place even the cat can’t get enough of.
Now that everything is pulled together I’m ready to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view.
