My son’s room has been a work in progress since we moved into the new house back in August. You’ve seen a few sneak peeks on Instagram and my progress painting stripes here on the blog but now I’ve finally pulled the whole room together and am ready for the big reveal.
I had to get the photos fast because with a ten-year old boy the room won’t look like this for long…
Most of the furniture from his old room came to the new room with some small changes and a few additions since the new room is quite a bit larger.
The bed got an easy update with a new coat of paint, Valspar Tropical Foliage.
I also added a new personalized vinyl decal. This is a decal like you would put on the back window of your car. I got mine at my local hardware store but they are also available online and you can customize them any way you like. The old decal pealed right off, I repainted the bed and put the new one on.
The rest of the room was just a matter of paint and fabrics. The bedding is a mix and matched I pulled together from TJMaxx and the orange fabric on the curtains and bed skirt are Premier Prints Towers in Sherbet.
Here is a reminder of what we started with.Again this beige brown color, which seems to be the go to neutral for a rental. I’ll take grey or white over this any day.
So I repainted the room with Valspar Morning Lake for the wall and Valspar Indigo Streamer for the stripes.
And then my son got to add all his favorite things. Yes that is the Titanic up top, one of his favorite things.
The inspiration for bringing in the orange was the project that gave me so much trouble in the beginning, my German cabinet. It has turned out to be one of my favorite pieces in the end and provides lots of storage for all those little boy things…
My son loves his new room and I do too. So glad to have another room down.
Before long I might actually get this house together…
