As you may have noticed I have cleaned house around here lately. This month I was fortunate enough to be involved in my second Blogging Your Way class taught by Holly Becker at Decor8, Thorston Becker at Alternate Words and Tina Fussell at Flying House by Traveling Mama. Each time I have enrolled in these classes I have found so much inspiration to try something new and make improvements here on my blog. This time was no exception.
You are probably these changes already. The biggest being my header change. The old header was an update I made during the last BYW class when I updated my theme. While I liked the idea of the “O” interlocking my first and last names I found the text was light and not very graphic.
Out with the old and in with the new. What do you think?
Some of the other changes you will notice are less obvious.
The main menu below the header was streamlined with most of the links being moved to the side menu which used to be social media links. I thought the social media links were hogging too much space so moved them up to smaller icons and changes the side bars to blog post categories.
I have also updated my About page a bit and added a place for you contact me privately directly from the blog.
Many of these changes were part of a lesson where we critiqued each others blogs for places we could make improvements. A big thanks to Sharon at Naturally Chic and Melody at My Morning Glitter for all their great comments and honest critiques. Many of these changes came from their input. It is always good to have the opinion of someone from the outside who can sometimes see things more clearly.
So the blogs look has an update but what about the content? As part of my improvements I think it would be great to have all of your input too.
What are your favorite posts? What would you like to see more often? Or what don’t you see that I could add in the future?
I’d love to hear from you and know what you think, leave a comment and I’ll see what I can do.
Lauren

Maggie: I like what you have done here. The top nav bar is definitely less cluttered. And I’m interested to see how you do the categories on the sidebar…I’ve been wrestling with this for the last week or so! I want to include a widget for my new “columns”, which are really just categories, yet I want to keep them unique. So, whether to click to those posts, as you have, or to go to a “Page” as it would be up on the nav bar. Hmm. My tech guru and I will have to decide soon. But it’s a dilemma: what to put on the sidebar, as that is very valuable real estate. So, you don’t have a blogroll?? Did you ever? That is something I happen to feel strongly about…esp. in these days of a million and one blogs to read!
And popular posts are such a good way to keep readers on the blog. These courses are great, I agree. And I’m already fascinated with the fall course and how to monetize, something I am beginning to think about (but can’t stand those Google ads!) . Off to read about your travel!
