For Katie’s bedroom all the furniture and bedding we brought with us from the U.S. As with most of my bedding TJMaxx to the rescue plus a few custom pillows I made myself. As for the furniture every piece in Katie’s room is an up-cycled redo. You saw the painted bed in a previous post but the dresser and the secretary also received makeovers. None of these antique/flea-market finds cost over $125 and most were considerably less. Good sturdy furniture does not have to be expensive!
I made a greek key valances for the windows which I paired with Ikea roller shades to allow in as much light as possible. The ugly light fixture that came with the house had to go so I replace it with a $40 chandelier for a little bit of a girlie flair and sparkle.
When it came time to paint, I tried to talk Katie into painting the room a more neutral color (maybe pale green) so I wouldn’t have to repaint before we move out, but she was set on purple. I am glad she was because I think the lavender color came out perfect!
Fabulous ideas Maggie!
Maggie, you’re amazing! Did you the furniture here!?
The furniture pieces are from flea markets or antique malls that I repainted myself. All of this furniture I brought from the U.S. but you can definitely find good secondhand furniture to repaint here in Germany and the prices are usually very reasonable!
Looks great! I think the ceiling butterflies are my favorite, though!!
