Happy #ThiftScoreThursday everyone, how’s the junking going this week? I have bought a few little things but I have mostly been trying to get some of my “project” pieces finished up so I can get them out of my garage. This week I finished up this cute vanity set to take over to my store (FIY it sold immediately.) But the bigger news, I can now fit a car in my garage … major progress!
But enough about my garage, let’s talk about this vanity set which is not a set at all. Well, at least it didn’t start as one.
I bought these pieces at three different times and they were three different finishes but I wanted to show you how they came to look like they were made for each other.
Of course, the Amy Howard Chalk paint and D. Lawless hardware help bring it all together but it’s really more about the details. Notice I chose pieces that all had the same scallop detail. The stool is actually that awkward middle table of a nesting set that really doesn’t work well alone but was the perfect height for a stool. It’s scalloped along the under edge and has the same feel as the under edge of the desk and the top of the mirror. Once painted out in the same finish you would never know they weren’t a matching set.
And since I mentioned buying a few little things, I thought I’d share my little china girl I got at an estate sale last week. I love her colors and she’s looking pretty snazzy on the new vanity don’t you think?
I’m just glad I could bring them all together!
Now let’s have a closer look at what you found…
But first, for the newcomers let me explain just what #ThriftScoreThursday is. We want you to participate! Hit up your local thrift stores, craigslist, yard sales, estate sales, side of the road, anything! Thrifty doesn’t necessarily mean from a thrift store. We want to see your good deals, wacky finds and true treasures.
You can share your finds any day of the week but features are shared on our blogs and Instagram on Thursdays, but we’re all checking in on (and using!) the hashtag all week-long. So, when you see/find it, feel free to share it! And we love it when you tag your friends to play along, too!
Each week Cassie from Cassie Bustamante, Corinna from A Designer At Home, Brynne from The Gathered Home, myself and this week our guest-host Mila from Jest Cafe will pick a few favorite thrift scores to feature on our blogs! Please note that by linking up with #ThriftScoreThursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.
My Favorites:
In the spirit of my vanity set and bringing thrifted items together I decide today I’d like to share full rooms of thrifted goodness rather than single items.
Whether you like over the top thrifted bohemian like blissfully_eclectic‘s gathered gallery walls, and super hip furniture.
Or a simple sleek elegance like biggerthanthethreeofus and her amazing brass and brown leather chairs.
or maybe a mid-century vibe like jmwearing managed with everything thrifted but the plant.
Or maybe you’d rather something a little in between like thebeauideal always seems to manage so effortlessly.
Whatever your style these rooms prove the thrift store has it, all you have to do is go out and find it.
Or maybe just move in with one of these guys!
Now don’t forget to stop by and check out all my co-hosts to see what they’ve been up along with their favorite #ThriftScoreThursday finds.

that vanity is STUNNING! and i love ashley’s chairs… i would have featured them but i featured her last week so i didn’t want to be like “it’s the ashley feature show!” 😉

Thanks Mila!

Mmmm! So fabulous! I would never guess those three pieces weren’t made to be together! That color and finish is also amazing – is it just the basic black or something else? LOVE it! And the little china girl is too adorable!

Just black chalk paint and nothing else, I love the matte against the gold!

It’s so impressive how you pulled those 3 pieces together. And way to go getting it sold right away!
