Hello my #ThriftScoreThursday friends. I hope you’ve had a great week, I did because I ended an 8 month search for the perfect sofa side table. (That’s good right?)
I’ve had a little cabinet next to my sofa ever since we moved into our house in August and I’ve tried switching it up a few times with other pieces around the house but nothing has been quite right. One was too tall, one was too small, and one I could see the back exposed so when I ran across this table for $20 at a resale furniture shop I was hoping it might be just right. If not I could always resell it at the store for a little profit. The top was pretty scratched up and had a few stains rings but worst case scenario I could always paint it.
I took it home and saw it was the perfect height and I loved that it had a little shelf underneath for dust storage. Even better when I flipped it over I saw it was “Declaration” by Drexel a line designed in the late 1950’s. These pieces are quite collectible so I took the time to see if I could refinish the top. I decided to leave the original finish on the rest of the piece since it was still in good condition.
I stripped off the original finish, sanded the top, retained and applied a satin clear coat. The results were a perfect match and a table that goes perfectly with my sofa.
Now I can mark that one off my thrift list and enjoy.
Just for fun here is an original catalog cover for the line, looks like some pretty great furniture I’d love to have!
and a cray cray 1stDibs listing that will help fund my retirement. (Don’t get too excited, really you could get a pair on Ebay or Etsy for about $200, but it was still a good find.)
But enough about me let’s get on to some #ThriftScoreThursday …
For newcomers let me explain just what #ThriftScoreThursday is. We want you to participate! Hit up your local thrift stores, craigslist, yard sales, estate sales, side of the road, anything! Thrifty doesn’t necessarily mean from a thrift store. We want to see your good deals, wacky finds and treasures.
You can share your finds any day of the week but features are shared on our blogs and Instagram on Thursdays, but we’re all checking in on (and using!) the hashtag all week long. So, when you see/find it, feel free to share it! And we love it when you tag your friends to play along, too!
Each week Cassie from Primitive and Proper, Corinna from A Designer At Home, Brynne from The Gathered Home, myself and occasionally a guest co-host will pick a few favorite thrift scores to feature on our blogs! Please note that by linking up with #ThriftScoreThursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.
Now for my favorite finds:
uptick_interiorstyling says she couldn’t “not buy” this chair at the flea market. I know the feeling and this chair would definitely have come home with me!
househomemade scored this bentwood stool and hobnail blankets with FRINGE but what I love most is that she gave the blanket new life with Rit dye.
This toy typewriter haneens_haven found could not be more perfect in her office, color coordination at it’s best!
christine_jessup found this rattan table for 10 bucks. “It’s a little small for our living room so my daughter will probably inherit it” maybe she’ll adopt me…
Great finds everyone!
Now don’t forget to stop by and check out all my co-hosts to see what they’ve been up and their favorite #ThriftScoreThursday finds.
Would you like to be a guest host? If re you an avid blogger + Instagrammer who also loves thrifty finds? We’d love to have you join us for a week of Thrift Score Thursday! If you’re interested, you can apply right here!

Your table is gorgeous!!! I’m just obsessed with your style – I adore that pink lamp as well! And somehow I missed that beautiful pink floral chair in the feed! Oh how I would love to have that in my life!
Corinna - A Designer At Home
Ha. I always laugh at those 1stdibs listings. People can’t seriously be buying that stuff… right? The table is GORGEOUS. You did a fabulous job matching the finish.

I say that all the time Corinna but I assume someone is paying it or they wouldn’t be listing it. I think I may actually be a millionaire if I sold my whole house. I have several pieces that are worth thousands according to 1stdibs. Excellent retirement plan I think!
