Lately chalkboard paint has really been in the limelight and although the idea of it is great I think painting things with chalkboard paint just for the sake of using it is beginning to get a little old. So when SHOULD you use chalkboard paint? Well, when you have something to say, of course. Especially if you are going to say it with chalk typography. Above and below are a few of my own fare attempts at chalk typography but below that you will find the true artists. I love these perfectly compose freehand drawings that are so precise you might think they were computer designed. Such effort makes it hard to believe these are beautiful works of art are only temporary!

These are great – and not to be a Debbie Downer but I think the ” your” in the first chalkboard should be spelled you’re.

You are correct! I updated it but forgot to take another photo. My husband noticed it first thing after I finished it! Fortunately for me it was chalk and easily corrected.

Loved that clip, but they all look amazing!

Maggie I need your help! I bought a silver tray painted with chalkboard paint at Highlands. It’s propped up in the kitchen on the counter. I love it, but have NO idea what to write on it! Help, please!

I also love the chalk illustrations at the Vapiano restaurants in Germany. There’s one huge wall above the counter which is covered with “food quotes” by famous people like Sophia Loren and there’s pasta and other vegetables on it, too – just beautiful. Might be a nice way to introduce the menu for your dinner party guests.
